Wedding Tito & Novie

In Friends, News, Travel on July 8, 2008 at 2:47 pm

last weekend, cik tinn, cik lee, jun and i went to yogya to attend a wedding.

why did we go that far for a wedding? you might ask.

well, the groom (Tito) and bride (Novie) are our friends whom we knew through sheila on 7. tito was with sheila management’s Merchandise and Fan Club section.

the happy couple
we’ve known these 2 for perhaps about 4 years (this year). both of them are very friendly, accomodating, fun to be with and most importantly, very nice people!

whenever we’re in yogya, these two would tiredlessly entertain us. on countless occassions. driving us everywhere around and outside town. attending to our (sometime, somewhat childish) needs… heheheh… yes, perhaps it was part of his duty since we are so7’s fans. but they really didn’t have to…

the best part driving around with them is, eventhough they’re locals, with us they get to go to places they’ve never been. (do u agree if i say this is normal? for us to go visit some places in other people’s country when the fact is we’ve never even been to some of the places in our own!). i remember novie saying “aku juga gak pernah ke sana…”/”i haven’t been there myself”, while looking at tito, as if begging him to take her there… imagine PussInBoots cute little face… ;P

another thing which i love best going out with them is, all of us get to gang up against tito! hahahah!!!

tito is of javanese parentage, while novie is of malay riau. of these two, malay riau speaks more similar to bahasa malaysia than java. and we also share other similar traits. that’s why we’d always say to tito, “kita kan satu rumpun!”/”We’re of the same ethnicity”. come to think of it, all of us are, actually! oh well. it’s just for the sake of ganging up!

anyway. these two has been together for 9 years. they’re undeniably the sweetest couple i’ve ever known. full stop. and this year, they’ve finally, actually tied the knot.

the event
the solemnization took place at novie’s house, while the reception was held in the UPN’s grand hall.
if i’m not mistaken, this was the same place where both of them first met, during one of so7’s earlier concerts… “how sweet

in both events, novie looked as lovely as ever, while tito, what can i say. the happiest guy no doubt. he was practically all teeth all the way… look at the photo below if you don’t believe me… “heheheheeeeee…” was his phrase of the moment.

unlike malay weddings in malaysia, theirs i believe is more organised and clearer - adat-wise.

for example, they have an MC, who’s clad in full javanese traditional attire, to guide and explain the ceremony’s itenary. this way, guests outside the house (esp if you have a small house) are informed of what’s happening. although, i do find this a bit draaagg-y sometimes.

as for the reception, before feasting on the food, guests upon arriving will line up to meet and give their best wishes to the happy couples (yes, that’s what i said; the bride’s parents, the bride+groom, the groom’s parents) who are all patiently waiting on the stage, from the time the event starts til it ends. the concept is more of hosts-welcoming-guests rather than ours, which is guests-waiting-for-theBridGroom(RajaSehari). it gives guests opportunity to meet with the BrideGroom.

but hands down. ours are more happening!!! with the kompangs et al! yeah, baby!
