i haven’t been updating this blog for quite some time. i apologise for that. but i won’t promise any frequent updates after this…
nevertheless, this time it’s a different story. i believe today’s event is worth to blog…
like martin luther king, i too have a dream, eventho it’s not as significant(not the right word but it’ll do for now) as his…
i’ve been wanting to fly an airplane eversince i finished highschool. aviation engineering was my first choice during the University placement. unfortunately, i didn’t meet the qualification. it was my Physic’s SPM result and perhaps some other criteria set by the U (i.e. incline towards male students). so i got into Info System Mgmt instead. fine.
once i started my working-life, i saved money for vacations. preferably to places where i’ll get to fly in an airplane. be it as close as Singapore or as far as UK, as long as it’s via airplane, i’m a happy woman.
this is something i have never told anyone before. but each time i stepped unto the plane, it never not crossed my mind, “will i get an opp to sit in the cockpit this time?” eventho i won’t be allowed to hold the steering, just sitting in it, c’est bonne!
but that never happened too…
until today.
yes, today i had the chance to sit in a plane as a co-pilot and fly a plane!
well, granted i only hold the steering under 1 minute but that’s all it took to fulfill my dream. might i add, the feeling’s unnerving!
it was a Piper (a very hot temperature) plane on a very nice flying-weather day.
the program is actually for aerial photography organised and subsidised by the Org’s Photog Club.
we were given two choices: participate as passanger (focus on photo taking -RM75) or as co-pilot (focus on manuevering the plane -RM100).
i immediately chose the latter. no second thot about it.
i had to wait several weeks for the Day to come. and when it did, eventho i slept at 2am the night before, i was so excited that waking up at 5am wasn’t such a difficult task for me to do.
the flight only took 20 minutes (up in the air). it wasn’t enough. i decided to fly a second time. but as a passanger. this time in a Cessna. it was more laidback since i was in the same flight as my 2 friends. i noticed that it was an all-girl flight.
ok. i will not go through with you all the details of how my day was. it’s sufficient just to say my dream came true!
ps: i did ask the price i i wanted to get a private plane pilot license. for 50hours or 5 months or so, it’ll cost RM40k, minimum! hahahha. there goes my plan…
